He tells Pip he was so moved by Pip’s kindness that he wanted to make Pip a gentleman. It’s why Magwitch worked to make a fortune as a sheep farmer in Australia. 今天读到的这本章节小说《Great expection》，给我的印象最深的就是expection这个词，意思是希望，愿望，期待等，对的，这本书说的就是一个男孩内心的渴望。

pip和他喜欢的富家小姐estela

讲的是一个小男孩Pip，爱上一个高傲的女孩，因此想要过上绅士的生活，而不想过铁匠的生活的故事。

当我看完章节说，到网络上搜索了一下，原来是英国作家狄更斯晚年写的长篇小说《远大前程》又译《孤星血泪》，

小铁匠pip，向往着成为有钱人，过上绅士的生活

故事其实很简单，PIP其实也像大部分普通人的心理一样，嫌贫爱富。

小时候巨大的落差，让他萌生了这样的想法。

原本他只是一个失去父母，靠着姐姐照顾的小孩，姐姐和一个铁匠joe结婚了，像对待朋友一样对待pip，如果按照这样的剧本发展下去，pip也会成为一个勤劳朴实的铁匠。

但是，有一次，一个逃犯威胁pip，让他送一些食物与锉刀过来，善良诚实的pip帮助了他。为将来pip命运的改变埋下了伏笔。

有一天，村里有一个很有钱的老女人，让人叫pip到她的庄园玩，在那里，pip看到了他的白月光estela,但是estela怎么可能喜欢一个穷小子。其实那个老女人的意思很简单，就是让pip爱上estela,并且让estala无情的抛弃他。因为那个老女人年轻时，在婚礼当天新郎跑了，老女人身上的那件婚纱就没有脱过。她想以同样的方式复制给别人，让别人也尝尝被抛弃的滋味，这个老女人的心态大家去体会一下。（是不是自己不幸福，也不希望别人幸福呀）

之后，老女人就让pip不要来庄园了，pip重新过上了铁匠的生活，就是这种强烈的落差，让原本平静的pip希望自己有一天能过过上绅士的生活。这样就能配得上estela。但是命运只能让pip成为一个脏兮兮的卖苦力的铁匠，随着日子一天一天过去，pip其实已经无奈的接受了这样的现实。

可是命运似乎突然对他开了嗯，突然有人暗中资助他到伦敦求学，成为一名他渴望的绅士，在那里，他过上了随心所欲，纸醉金迷的上层生活，他甚至不愿意见铁匠姐夫Joe，觉得有失身份。

而他一直以为资助他的人是那个庄园的老女人。

但是他错了，资助他的人其实是他小时候帮助过的那个逃犯，逃犯逃到国外，发了财，就资助了pip。

后来逃犯被抓，pip失去了所有的资助，并且还欠了债，他病倒了，没想到来照顾他，并且帮他还掉债务的人居然是那个他一直看不上眼的姐夫Joe。

pip的人性回归，开始努力工作，自我谋生。最后抱得美人归。
